About Broke Bike Towing

Broke bike towing was founded in September of 2008 after a horrific towing experience. We were returning from a local bike night when I heard the sound no biker wants to hear while driving down the road and then the movement. That's right a flat in the middle of nowhere.

I tried calling a buddy but he was driving his bike home and never heard the phone ring. So I did the next best thing pulled my trusty hog membership card out of my wallet and dialed the 1800 number for roadside assistance. The voice on the other end was a nice pleasant individual who said well sir the towing company said they would be there in 45 minutes at 9:30pm.

At 11:45 I returned a call to Hog and asked if they knew what was taking so long, she said she would call and find out and call me back. When the phone rang again it was Hog and they said 15 more minutes and they would be there. Well after several phone calls and several 15 more minutes the tow truck finally shows up at 1:45am four hours after the original call.

The tow truck driver backs his rig up to my bike and lowers the bed to a 45 degree angle and pulls his winch line. He then continues to hook the cable to my Harley front forks with no protection of soft straps to protect the chrome, and tells me to stabilize the bike as he will pull me up onto the bed. Once on top he lowered the bed almost causing me to drop the bike when it slammed against the truck frame, then he takes two straps one across the front of the tank and another across the seat and tightens the bike down to the point the front fork seals almost rupture.

At this point I am mad beyond control, the driver fills out the paper work and asks where I would like to take the bike in the morning and I told him. Then he was off. I followed the driver to see where the bike was stored and he drives .5 miles and turns into his yard and parks. Oh I was mad. Well the next morning I go to work and receive a call at 7:30am telling me it would cost me an additional $300 to take it to my dealership. I advised the company to unload the bike and I would be there to get it shortly.

My wife and I began to talk to several of our friends and began to realize if it happens to us it happens to everyone. We began to hear horror stories from several different people and realized the bikers need to have towing rights. So the idea was born and Broke Bike Towing was founded.

We are both Veterans and Bikers. Bikers helping Bikers.
